A blog waiting to happen

Obviously it’s been a long time since I’ve posted to my blog, and Project 365 has fallen off. Perhaps I’ll try again next year. More than likely, I’ll go for a Project 52, sticking to one post a week.

To face the facts, I burned out on Project 365, and I was busy with classes, my college’s newspaper, and my somewhat sporadic social life.

Since my last post, I’ve been elected as the Student State President of the Journalism Association of Community Colleges, won a few more awards, and realized that I have no idea what I really want to do with my life.

However, I want to become more active with my life. I want to push myself to do more in journalism, become a more active, influential member of the internet communities I am apart of, and expand my overall presence online.

I wouldn’t say no to a paying writing gig, either.

Until next time, blogosphere.

Project 365 – Day 47: A free poster through Klout

February 16 2013

Despite constant fluctuations, my Klout score is apparently good enough to get me the occasional perk. If you don’t know what Klout is, it’s a site that you connect all of your social media sites to and it measures your influence across them all. You can sign up for perks, which gets you coupons, free items, etc.

Well, my Klout jumped enough and I got a free poster from Zazzle.com! I’m pretty happy, because I’ve wanted that life mantra poster for quite a while.

Project 365 – Days 40 through 44: Late nights with photo assignments and homework

(February 9, 2013)

After covering baseball and softball games at Cosumnes River College, I had a long night of sorting through photos, rosters and my game notes to pick out the best photos that would lend themselves to the best caption. (My Flickr sets, including my sports photos)

February 10 2013

I was at the kitchen table the night before for caption writing because this is how my desk looked. Yikes! Yes, I’ve cleaned it since then.

February 11 2013

Another late night shot where I had been writing captions for a photo assignment (this time a club profile), as well as reading for my history paper and scanning old film negatives for my Photoshop class.

February 12 2013

After my long day of school on Tuesday (7:30 a.m. until 9 p.m.), I had to head back over to Hookaholics for that review that my friends and I were working on for The Connection. We needed better photos with people. While I was shooting the photos, I noticed someone was smoking out of a pineapple. Yeah, that was pretty epic to see.

February 13 2013

To conclude this assignment themed post is from yet another late night. This time I snapped a photo while I was half asleep, trying to finish my history paper. I was up until 3 a.m. writing, and had to get up around 6 a.m. for my history class at 7:30 a.m. Gross.

Project 365 – Day 38: An exceptionally puffy cloud in the sky.

February 7 2013

My friend pointed out a great cloud in the sky today, and since I had my camera on hand, with the 70-200mm f/2.8 lens I once again checked out from the newspaper, I decided I’d shoot some photos of it. I need to practice my cloud photography, I think.

Project 365 – Days 25 and 26: Kendama in the dark (power outage, woo!)

January 25 2013

I got this “Kendama,” and I had no idea what they were called or that they were so popular before I was bought one. I’ve only seen a couple of people with them, but my cousin assured me they’re pretty popular in high school. It’s pretty amusing, and wasted quite a bit of time the day after I got it.

January 26 2013

This is a picture of my bedroom, and as you can see, my bed is not made. It usually isn’t. I just don’t bother, really. It gets messed up anyways, and I tend to sit on it on my laptop or watching TV, since it’s more comfortable than sitting at my desk to do said things.

I took this picture during a power outage last night, in which I spent the nearly hour and a half playing with my Kendama and generally sitting around with just the lamp for light.
